Koptos ("the app") is a spiritual companion app for the Coptic Orthodox community, offering the Holy Bible, the Agpeya, liturgical resources, and community features in Coptic, English, and Arabic.
What we collect
Account information. If you create an account, we store your first and last name, email address, and which sign-in provider you used (email link, Google, or Apple). You can use most of the app — including reading the Bible and Agpeya — without any account.
Your content. Notes, highlights, saved verses, and quiz answers you create are stored with your account so they sync across your devices.
Contact messages. If you use the Contact Us form, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit.
Notifications. If you enable prayer reminders or Verse of the Day, a device notification token is stored to deliver them. Agpeya reminders are scheduled on your device.
What we do NOT collect
- No location tracking. Find a Church may ask for your location so the app can sort churches by how near they are. That happens on your phone, only while the screen is open; your location is never stored, never sent to us, and never shared.
- No advertising identifiers, no ads, no sale of data — ever.
- No analytics profiles of your reading habits.
Where data lives
Account and content data are stored with Google Firebase (Google Cloud), protected by industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, with access restricted by security rules so each user can only access their own data.
Your rights
- Access/export: email us to request a copy of your data.
- Deletion: email us to delete your account and all associated data, or use the in-app account deletion option.
- Corrections: you can edit your profile in the app at any time.
Children
The Kids' Bible section requires no account and collects nothing. Accounts are intended for users 13 and older.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted in the app and on this page with a new effective date.
